How is McGregor’s Kindergarten different than public school?
McGregor’s Kindergarten offers a shorter day, but still accomplishes the required objectives. McGregor Kindergarten goes from 8:30 to 12:30 each day. We are able to accomplish all the objectives in our curriculum in just four hours. Our special areas are shortened. Plus we do not have an extended lunch time and rest period. Our curriculum is based on the SC State Objectives which are the same used in District 5
What is your bad weather policy?
We follow District 5. If District 5 has cancelled school for the whole day, we are cancelled for the whole day. If they have a 2 hour delay, then we have a 2 hour delay. That means for Kindergarten, they will start at 10:30 and all other classes will start at 11 am (drop off starting at 10:45). Pick up time will be at normal time starting at 11:45 am. But we will have lunch bunch as normal.
Do you make exceptions to the September 1 age cut-off?
Yes we do. However, the public schools are very stringent on the age cutoff so it may be necessary to repeat a class at McGregor before the child may go to Kindergarten at the public schools.
What are the teacher ratios per class?
Kindergarten 18:2
4 year old classes 18:2
3 year old classes 16:2 or 18:2 depending on the room size
2 year old classes 8:2 or 12:2 depending on the room size
1 year old classes 6:2
When does the school year begin?
Classes will begin in early September and end in late May. We tend to start approximately two weeks after District 5 and end one to two weeks earlier.
